Dance to Your Health

AUTHOR Shellie - 15/08/2013

This summer pick up dancing and dance your way to health and fitness.

Dancing has made a come back! All the old school moves you learn in Salsa, Zouk, Bachata, Samba, Quick Step, Foxtrot, Swing and so on are now what's burning on the dance floors across Sydney. Some establishments have even created regular themed nights for the growing demand of dance styles, in particular Latin dancing.
Dancing is a great overall toning and fitness building method. Rather than targeting specific muscles on the body like so many gym routines do, it calls on all. Regular dance lessons can increase your general body strength, flexibility, endurance and well being. Doctors are supporting the dance craze claiming that it can also provide significant benefits to the body's metabolism, psychology and health.

On a side note, apart from all the benefits to one's self, researchers from the University of Sydney have discovered that dancers are more likely and frequently satisfied in their sexual needs. The ladies are loving the confidence men display when they know how to move and lead across the dance floor as it can reflect on more than just their ability to dance. From the guys side, a lady who can dance with elegance mixed with famine sexual appeal, without dropping down and twerking Miley style, is far more attractive and sort after in the long run.

Top 5 Tips for Healthy Hair

AUTHOR Shellie - 12/08/2013

Follow this advice to keep your hair shining bright and healthy.

1. Take some time out and brush your hair.
Count to 100 while brushing your hair with a good quality brush starting from root to tip. This old wife's tale is actually beneficial as it helps spreads your hair’s natural oils making the hair shinier, more manageable and less likely to break. With daily brushing you might even be able to cut back on some of the hair products.

2. Choose your shampoo carefully.
Shampoos are filled with toxic ingredients despite the word “natural” being plastered across the bottle. These chemicals which are normally used to formulate the scents, colours and cleaning agents can damage hair leading to the purchase of additional products to fix that damage. Look for organic or shampoos tailored to your needs.

3. Buddy up with protein.
Increase your hair's inner strength by packing your diet with protein. Protein helps reduce hair frizz and breakages, meaning that your dreams of long hair are close at hand! The best food to boost protein levels are eggs, meat, fish and cheese. These all contain complex carbohydrates and minerals that help build up the keratin in your hair.

4. Break up with bad habits.
Smoking, drinking, bad diets and lack of exercise do not help in your cause for healthy and beautiful looking hair. Plainly put, smoking starves your hair of oxygen and drinking dehydrates it, both resulting it dull, brittle and lifeless hair. A bad diet and lack of exercise is just unhealthy any way you look at it!

5. Give your hair a break.
Let's be real, we all love our straighteners, curling irons and hair dryers. Unfortunately, these miracle styling tools are the main culprit for damaged hair! Every now and then give your hair a break, switch up your routine and go the day with a styled plait, messy bun or classic pigtail. However, if you really can't leave the house without touching one, at least be sure to use an anti-frizz serum to create a moisture barrier which will act as a heat protectant.

Planning Your Big Day

Plan, budget and avoid all temptations that are outside your set limits!

First and foremost, research ideas and concepts you are interested in. Look to blogs, magazines, websites and anything else you can get your hands on. You can never do too much research! From this you will get an idea of which way you wish to head and what kind of budget you want to work on.

Start planning by setting up appointments and immersing yourself in the whole meet and greet with wedding planners, dress fittings, food tastings and so on. Keep reminding yourself to be open-minded and don't be scared to place trust in your consultants to make some suggestions.

Finally, relax and get excited about one of the best days in your life!

Tattoos instead of Makeup

AUTHOR Shellie - 09/08/2013

Call it a new trend in the MUA's world of ever changing designs and materials to be used and explored.

Brought to my attention by D'Makeup Station's head MUA, Martha Mok, these innovative eye liner tattoos are definitely worth checking out. They are the best accessory to have in your bag, car or some where close by just in case you need to quickly look more seductive, fashionable or stylish. Coming in a range of colours and styles eye liner tattoos are designed to match anything you wear, but to be honest, if you really can't find one you think truly matches throw on one that makes for a crazy combo! Remember sometimes crazy combinations can work very effectively.

The Bling Craze

AUTHOR Shellie - 04/08/2013

Don't know what to wear on a night out?

These past months the world has been taken over by a massive bling craze. Stick with a bright colour as a base accentuated by some bling and you will never go wrong. However, do not forget that simplicity and elegance can go hand in hand! Overdo the bling and you may turn out like a watch in a blender, out of time, uncoordinated and all over the place.

Channelling Nature's Bride

AUTHOR Shellie - 01/08/2013

Moving the wedding to the bush and channelling nature's beauty.

Nature themed and orientated weddings have become a big hit currently, and the fashion industry is closely following this trend. Wedding dresses have become besties with flora and now feature flower like arrangements along, generally, the top or bottom of the dress. This style really softens the bride and in a way makes them seem significantly refreshed and delicate, just like a rare orchid sitting in amongst a giant forest of scraggly looking trees. Not only will the bride win over every heart and tear on the day, they will be forever remembered as the stunning white flower ready to bloom and grow into success!

This style has also passed over to the bridesmaids dresses, in a smaller scale though. Floral prints and small features are best when it comes down to the managers of the bride. The bridesmaids must always remember it is the bride's day to blossom, not theirs, and dress accordingly. I'd suggest soft pale colours for most to compliment the softness of the floral features. However, if you have the right explosive attitude and winning smile, bright colours all the way!

Can You Say Patterns?

Talk about colours and patterns! I am loving the mixture and matching between different and crazy patterns. When styled with a vintage touch and some unique or vintage accessories you can bring life to this chilly weather.

Don't be afraid if the patterns do not match as that can make for quite an amazing and effective look itself! A casually curled wind ruffled hair style will complete this quirky but beautiful look off.
